In Athens’ Neighborhoods, where traffic load is lower, the environment is more appropriate for developing bicycle use.
For this reason, the organization “Cities for Cycling”, in cooperation with the Municipality of Athens, implemented the project “Athenian neighborhoods by bicycle”.
The aim of the project was to promote and develop locally the use of bicycle, to promote it as an alternative means of short-distance travel, to increase the number of road users in the streets and to provide greater safety for the public. “Every community will be cooperating directly with the Sustainable Development Unit of the municipality of Athens and will be supported along the way with the knowledge and know-how of “Cities for Cycling”.
