Cities for Cycling is the lead partner of the CARE project (Community-based Active-cycling and Recreation for the Elderly), a European Erasmus+ project that promotes cycling as a means of gentle exercise and social interaction for older people.

One of the first deliverables of the project is now available: D2.1 – Senior Cycling Blueprint & Community Insights. This Blueprint brings together research findings and community insights from the CARE partners (Greece, Poland and Bulgaria). It identifies the main barriers, motivations and opportunities to make cycling more inclusive and age-friendly.

In addition, the first CARE webinar was recently held, which focused on community cycling activities. Participants received practical guidance on how to manage group rides, ensure road safety and create a welcoming environment for cyclists of all experience levels.

Another theme of the webinar was the development of partnerships with local cafes and businesses. These can serve as meeting points and resting places for cyclists, while also strengthening the connection between cycling activities and local communities.

More CARE activities and webinars will follow in the coming months – stay tuned!
