Policy and Infrastructure
One of the main goals of Cities for Cycling is to improve conditions in our public spaces so that bicycles can be used comfortably and safely by everyone.
Through continuous dialogue, we raise awareness within local and central government of the benefits of bicycle use, and the need for direct and strict policies to promote it.
Beyond dialogue, we serve as a reliable partner to public and private agencies, helping translate shared goals into concrete policies and on‑the‑ground improvements for cyclists.
Cycling to History and Art
Through the “Cycling to History and Art” program, with the exclusive sponsorship of the Helidoni Foundation, we design and install quality bicycle parking spaces in museums, galleries and cultural venues in Athens. Our goal is to encourage both Athenians and the numerous visitors to our city to choose cycling as their mode of transport to these venues, and to highlight the importance of sustainable tourism.
Development of EuroVelo in Greece
EuroVelo is the European network of long-distance cycling routes. Cities for Cycling is a member of the National EuroVelo Coordinating Center in Greece, whose role is to promote and continuously improve the three routes that cross the country. We contribute to this effort through our cycling know-how, and our partnership with relevant European bodies.
